My Light Therapy Devices - Pros & Cons

Glow Mask Pro
RRP (£1,999)

(image: www.opatra.com)

Number of colours: 3 (red, blue, yellow)
Number of  LEDs: 48

Pros: good personal results of smoother, clearer, glowing skin. I tend to use just 1 colour during a session and occasionally will use all 3 colours during 1 session. The timer is automatically set for 10 minutes per colour and will automatically change from one colour to the next.  When first purchased I used this 3 times per week.

It is great to use on the neck and décolletage because it comfortably sits under the chin and have seen significant visible results on neck (horizontal lines have become less visible).  To boost the results I also use a neck (and face) serum after using the mask and prior to using moisturiser.

Cons: some may feel claustrophobic at the idea or the thought of wearing a mask (in general) and not just this one. It has a viewing window, but to me, it is limited.  I can watch TV, but most of the time when wearing this device I prefer to sit back and relax and listen to the TV instead of trying to watch it.

I tend to use this device more for my neck/décolletage area rather than face, possibly due to the limited viewing window when wearing the mask.  However, I do use it on my face when I  want to give my skin a boost and/or seeking a makeshift spa experience!

Glo24K 7 color LED Beauty Mask
RRP (£150)

(image: www.glo24k.com)

Number of colours: 7 (blue, green, red, yellow, light  blue, purple, clear light)
Lights - LED line lights within the material of the mask.

Pros: when wearing this mask you have full visibility, has more colours than the Glow Mask and is a much lower price.

Cons:  I’m unsure whether this mask that has line lights are as powerful as LED bulbs, but I did notice some visible improvement in pigmentation reduction. I primarily purchased it for its visibility and the variety of colours. Since I personally feel it isn’t as strong as the Glow Mask Pro, I tend to use it for 20 minutes with a single colour or split my session using two colours for 10 minutes each. In comparison when wearing the Glow Mask I only need to use it 10 mins for a particular colour as 10 minutes feels 'long enough'.

Glo24K 7 Color LED Neck and Face Beauty Device - Limited Edition

RRP (£150)

                                                       (image: www.glo24k.com)

Number of colours: 7 (blue, green, red, yellow, light blue, purple, clear light)

Pros: you can do targeted treatments - for example working on redness on the cheek area.

Would be very easy to travel with.

It fits nicely in the hand and is enjoyable to use. It seems to have become my go-to light therapy device, as I am definitely seeing visible results of tighter, firmer skin. The massage technology really helps to tone the skin.

Cons: A minor point (which applies to all hand-held devices) is having to hold it and do the work yourself, compared to wearing a mask, sitting back and relaxing.

I'm unsure how effective this device would be on its own. I feel that using a mask is needed alongside this handheld device (but for use on different days).

Further thoughts

When wearing a light therapy mask,  it is not advisable to attempt to walk around the house or walk up or down stairs unless you have purchased a clear mask.  Please remain in one place - seated or lying down; only because of the limited viewing capability most masks provide.

If travelling either masks are small enough to fit into a bag (eg hand luggage), but I wouldn't recommend putting the masks into a suitcase for the obvious risk of being damaged.

Since purchasing these masks in 2023 and the hand-held device in 2024, there are now a wide range of light therapy devices, which vary in relation to what they offer.  For example the number of colours and even possibly a choice of different intensities of light (eg a lighter version to a deeper version of a colour).  Also there are a variety of prices to suit different budgets.

Also don’t be too influenced by the price, as lower price-point products can still bring about visible positive results on specific skin concerns.

Warranty information

The length of warranty for a Glo24K or Opatra device will depend on where you purchased the item from.  For example I purchased my devices from a shopping channel (TJC - www.tjc.co.uk and Ideal world - www.idealworld.tv), I have a lifetime warranty on all of these devices. However, buying directly from the brands will possibly come with a one-year warranty. Please note that these shopping channels only occasionally have these devices in stock.
